We are bringing along a terrific team of female directors!
We will be welcoming a trio of lovely ladies to guest speak for a free panel for us in June, about all things directing. And one of the reasons we are so excited to have them along is they’ve got incredible feature films being screened in London premieres, and they are all making waves in our industry. Here’s more about our extraordinary panel:
Deborah Haywood, was selected for Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow 2007. She was also BIFA nominated, as well as award winning for her short SIS. Her first feature, PIN CUSHION, is a BFI iFeatures2 film that has a fabulous cast including Lily Newmark and Joanna Scanlan (No Offence).
Jane Gull is no stranger to directing, having filmed over six shorts before
making her debut feature film MY FERAL HEART. Not only did it screen in Picturehouses around the UK, but it also won multiple awards in film festivals. What’s also interesting about My Feral Heart is its focus on a young man with Downs Syndrome, and how they came to find their star, Steven Brandon.
Sadia Saeed, a first time feature film director, has her feature ARIFA debuting in the East End Film Festival this June. It follows a British-Pakistani woman who reaches a crisis in her life. You can see more about the screening and a trailer here.
