CD Shakyra Dowling joins us for dialogue and drinks.I’m sure you all know who Shakyra Dowling is, you might even have met her the last time she attended Tweetup. She’s joining us again for a Q&A and a bit of networking on April 1st at our usual spot – Gerry’s Club in Soho.
Shakyra is a London based Casting Director. Amongst her most recent projects, she launched a worldwide search for actors from Britain, Spain, Ukraine, Hungary and Sweden for casting on StudioCanal Disney’s adaptation of the Swedish global bestselling book The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out of a Window and Disappeared. Shakyra’s keen eye for spotting talent early on manifests itself in ‘Verity’s Summer’ from Cannes Palm D’Or nominated director Ben Crowe, whose lead actress India Barge-Wilson, won Best Actress Award in British Independent Film Festival 2012. Her Casting Director’s skill at pairing actors to projects also led her to cast Rosie Day in BAFTA nominated ‘Good night’ back in 2010.
