Casting Director Shakyra Dowling has kindly volunteered to come and do a virtual Q&A with us to talk shop about castings, chat about her upcoming film, Wolf, starring George MacKay, Lily Rose-Depp and Paddy Considine, and answer any casting director questions you might have.

CASTING DIRECTOR SHAKYRA DOWLING 

Shakyra Dowling, twice nominated in The Inaugural UK CDA Casting Awards 2017, has been working for over two decades on Sundance, BAFTA, Berlinale and Oscar nominated films whilst zealously promoting diversity in casting. Last year Shakyra cast Nocturnal, which had its world premiere at London Film Festival, directed by Nathalie Biancheri and starring Cosmo Jarvis, as well as Toronto Film Festival’s White Lie; starring Kacey Rohl (Canadian Rising Star for her performance and Amber Anderson, UK ES Rising Star 2017). She has cast genre-spanning British and international films including  Cuban/Canadian co-production Un Traductor (staring Rodrigo Santoro) which was in World Cinema Competition at Sundance 2018 and has been selected as the Cuban Academy Award entry for 2019, French social comedy Naked Normandy (staring Toby Jones) and No Fathers In Kashmir by Oscar nominated Ashvin Kumar.
